Georgene F. Neal, age 76, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born May 12, 1940 in Madison, she was the daughter of Albert and Maymie L. (Handlon) Griffin.
Mrs. Neal was a lifelong resident of Madison. She was a homemaker, but in her later years also worked as a Lydia Middleton School crossing guard at Main and Mill Streets for the Madison Police Department. She was a member of Hanover Baptist Church, Madison-Jefferson County Seniors Citizens Center, and the Madison Moose Lodge. She enjoyed dancing, flea markets and yard sales, collecting hats and jewelry, fishing and spending time with her grandsons.
She will be sadly missed by one daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Ken Fresh of Madison; four sisters: Margaret Geyman of Madison, Helen King of Milton, Kentucky, Tulsa Everett of North Port, Florida, and Ruby Miracle of Brookville, Florida; two grandsons: Dustin Fresh and his wife, Bobbi of Madison, and Jeremy Fresh of Jeffersonville, Indiana; nephews: James Beach, Jeffrey Beach, Travis Geyman; niece: Nastashia Griffin; and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother on November 19, 2013; her father on March 19, 1991; and three brothers: James Higgins, Everett Griffin and Ronald Higgins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel. Interment will be in Springdale Cemetery at a later date.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel from 5 to 7 PM Friday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
