Hobart Lee, Jr., age 79, of Elkhart, Indiana, formerly of Madison, passed away July 11, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Elkhart. Born April 7, 1937 in Weeksbury, Kentucky, he was the son of Hobart, Sr. and Birdie (Isaacs) Lee.
Mr. Lee entered the United States Army on May 15, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky. He re-enlisted in 1959 and rose to the rank of Sergeant (E-5). He received an Honorable Discharge on December 18, 1963 due to a debilitating injury.
He enjoyed cigars, number games, reading and going fishing and boating at the lake.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Robert Lee and his wife, Wanda of Lexington, Kentucky, Renee Garcia of Lexington, Kentucky, and Richard Lee and his wife, Catherine of Lynchburg, Virginia; his grandchildren: Michael Andre, Samuel, Zachary, Benjamin, Karen, and Selena; and his caretaker, Brandy Chapla.
Preceding him in death are his parents and an infant sister, Christine Lee.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where interment will follow.
Military services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Jefferson Post #9 of the American Legion.
