Life Story for John N. Vance

John N.  Vance
Mr. John N. Vance, age 88, of Madison, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Hickory Creek of Madison. Born October 15, 1927 in Elkhart, Indiana, he was the son of Harold L. and Mary Kathryn (DeHays) Vance.

Mr. Vance was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged on January 22, 1947. He was an accountant for the Conn Organ Company in Elkhart and moved to Madison with Conn Organ in 1959. In 1980, he began working for Madison Chemical Company until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he served as treasurer and and a member of the Vestry for many years.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Gayle Neace of Madison; five grandchildren: Chris Jewell, Robert Hallgarth, John Adcock, Jeff Neace, Jennifer Anderson; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; his son-in-law, Dave Graves of Rexville, Indiana; his sister in law, JoAnn Vance of Union, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma D. Vance, to whom he was married on May 9, 1947, and who died on October 6, 2010; one daughter, Jeanne Graves on March 17, 2016 and his brother, Howard L.Vance.

The Reverend Evelyn Wheeler will conduct memorial services at 2:30 PM Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Christ Episcopal Church, 506 Mulberry Street in Madison. Graveside services will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where the Honor Guard from the United States Army will provide final honors.

Family and friends may gather from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM Saturday October 22, 2016 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Christ Episcopal Church. Contributions can be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
