Juanita Turner, age 94, of Madison, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Hanover Nursing Center. Born October 12, 1922 in Switzerland County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Avon and Lela Romans Lauderbaugh.
Mrs. Turner formerly worked for Dr. Edward Goldstein for several years, and was the first female school bus driver in Jefferson County, a position she held for a few years. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. She enjoyed cooking and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hanover, where she served as a ladies Sunday School teacher for more than forty-five years. She funded, in large part, the birth of Medical Missions For Christ.
Mrs. Turner will be sadly missed by one son and daughter-in-law, Avon Leon and Patricia Kaye Turner of Hanover; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Jean and Clair "Fuzzy" O'Connell of Columbus, Indiana; one sister, Frances Marie Thurnall of Jeffersonville, Indiana; one brother, Kenneth Lauderbaugh of Vevay, Indiana; six grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan Turner on July 14, 1983; one daughter, Deanna Turner; one brother, Cecil Lauderbaugh; and one great great granddaughter.
Leon Turner will conduct funeral services at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Chapel of Grandview Memorial Gardens, with interment to follow.
Friends and family may call at the Grandview Chapel from 9:45 AM until 10:00 AM Saturday.
