Carole Louise Stoner, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born October 20, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the daughter of Robert D. and Mary Jerkiewicz Wass.
Mrs. Stoner graduated from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, and the Holy Cross Central School of Nursing. She retired in 2006 after thirty years of service as a registered nurse at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, of which fifteen were spent as the Director of Nursing.
She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, its Ladies Organization and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the board of the Lanier Mansion, and a member of the Valley Hills Garden Club. She enjoyed socializing with friends, bicycling, gardening and being outdoors.
She will be sadly missed by one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Phil Wolfe of Madison; three sons and daughters-in-law: Steven and Kathy Stoner of Lexington, Indiana, John and Cathy Stoner and Greg and Laura Stoner, all of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; two sisters: Sue Miller and Julie Peterman, both of Fort Wayne; one brother, Phil Wass of Churubusco, Indiana; eight grandchildren: Paige Hess, Jack, Sam, Robert, Andrew, Ryan, Emily and Ethan Stoner; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John D. Stoner on February 12, 2014, and to whom she was married on April 24, 1965 in Fort Wayne; and one grandson, Timothy Stoner.
The Reverend Christopher Craig will conduct The Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2016, and from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Thursday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
