Michael W. Purvis, age 65, of Edinburgh, Indiana, formerly of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, Indiana. Born November 8, 1951 in Milton, Kentucky, he was the son of Herbert and Rosemary Jones Purvis.
He worked for Little Champ Gas Stations in Edinburgh for twenty years and retired in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, hunting in his younger years, Forty Niners football and collecting John Wayne Memorabilia in his later years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Carolyn Cyrus; his daughter, Candy VanSweringen of Edinburgh; his son, Scott Purvis of Edinburgh; his brothers: Donnie Purvis of Columbus, Indiana, Gary Purvis of Kentucky, and Kevin Purvis of Columbus; his sisters: Kim Garcia of Columbus, Linda Compton of Columbus, Martha Purvis of Columbus and Sandy Purvis of Winter Haven, Florida; and his grandchildren: Zackary VanSweringen, Venessa VanSweringen, Kaidin Purvis and Kennedy Purvis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Doug Purvis and sister, Terrie Purvis.
The Reverend Tim Scott will conduct funeral services at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Wood Oakley Chapel, 37 High Street, Milton, Kentucky with interment to follow in Moffett Cemetery.
