Life Story for Wanda Kelley

Wanda Kelley
Wanda Ellen (Francisco) Kelley passed away at 1:10 AM on Sunday morning, February 19, 2017 at River Terrace Health Campus, Madison. She was born in Madison on October 29, 1924 and was 92 years old. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ruth (Shipley) Francisco, her husband, George Joseph Kelley, one brother, Raymond "Ike" Francisco, one sister, Maggie; and her grandparents who raised her, May and John Shipley.

Wanda had a gentle soul and a strong spirit who never seemed to meet a stranger. She was easy to approach and you instantly felt she enjoyed your company. She enjoyed a laugh and could easily make you laugh. But she was strong when she had to be. She battled kidney disease bravely.

She and her husband, except for a brief time in San Antonio, Texas, were lifelong residents of the Madison-Hanover area. She worked briefly at Risk's Garage, Conn Organ and the Jefferson Proving Ground. However, her greatest job was as a wife and mother, at which she excelled.

She is survived by two sons, George Joseph Kelley, Sr. of Ocala, Florida, and John Joseph Kelley of Hanover. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

Her sons would like to thank all the many friends and family, too many to name, who have offered condolences and prayers.

There is no service planned at this time.

Wanda like to save poems from magazines and newspapers. Here we share with you for her one of her recent favorites.

Young at Heart

My body grows old and weary,

Yet my heart is young and gay.

Old age reaches out to claim me

But I'll fight him all the way.

Nay, I'll not give in to pity,

My laughter will keep me free.

I'll not grow old just yet,

There's too much I want to see.

Pain and suffering I'll push to aft.

I'll keep smiles upon my face.

Old age and I run neck and neck,

But I plan to win the race.

Whatever God has in store for me

And whatever old age imparts,

There's one thing that I pray for

And that's to remain young at heart.
