Mae J. Prather, age 85, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at her residence in Madison. Born January 17, 1932 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was the daughter of Daniel and Virginia Mae (Farnsworth) Copestick.
She co-owned Prather Sunoco on top of the hill in Milton, Kentucky from 1975-1982. On November 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to George Prather in Evansville, Indiana. She was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars #1969. Her interest included bingo and yard sailing.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Cynthia Lowry of Houghton, Louisiana and Betty McQueary of Madison; her brother, Robert Copestick of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her sons, George Prather, Jr.and Scott Prather; her sister, Jean Williams; and her brothers, Daniel Copestick and Bill Copestick.
The Reverend Ken Macphee will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, on Madison’s hilltop with interment to follow in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, August 28, 2017, and from 9:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to New Life Fellowship Church or the American Legion for homeless veterans. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
