Marla D. Giltner, age 51, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born September 13, 1965 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Russell P. Fitzgerald and Joyce (Bladen) Thornton.
Mrs. Giltner was a 1984 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and was a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Stephen Giltner in 1992 in Madison.
She enjoyed hunting. She held the record for women for shooting a ten-point buck with a bow and arrow. She also held the record for men and women for shooting a sixteen-point buck with a muzzleloader. She also enjoyed taking care of her indoor saltwater aquarium.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Steve Giltner of Madison; her mother, Joyce Thornton of Madison; her daughter, Kela Giltner and her companion, Amos Sparks of Madison; two sons: Christopher Giltner and his companion, Jenny Tucker, and Darek Giltner, all of Madison; one brother, Tom Sullivan of Vevay, Indiana; and one grandson, Kaiden Sparks of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Fitzgerald in 1995; her step-father,
Robert “Pat” Thornton on March 17, 2016; one brother, Steven P. Fitzgerald on July 24, 2012; and her grandparents.
Reverend Dennis Ingle will conduct graveside services at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Canaan Cemetery, with interment to follow.
