Life Story for Violet M. Skirvin (May)

Violet M.  Skirvin (May)
Violet M. Skirvin, age 84, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Hanover Health and Rehab in Hanover. Born October 31, 1932 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Roy Oliver and Rella May (Stanley) May.

Mrs. Skirvin was a homemaker, and worked for U.S. Shoe Corp. in Madison in her younger years. She moved to Madison in 1966 from Carrollton, Kentucky.

She loved to cook, listen to music, growing and tending to her flowers, especially roses, and loved animals, especially her dogs. Mrs. Skirvin was a member of Paynesville Christian Church.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mark Lawson of Hanover; three sons: William Skirvin of Madison, Tommy Skirvin and his wife, Tina and John Skirvin and his wife, Cindi, all of Hanover; four sisters: Mabel Tilley of Carrollton, Kentucky, Nettie Herring of Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara Lucas of Lexington, Indiana, and Donna Turpin of Garland, Texas; two brothers: Thomas May of Wauseon, Ohio and Danny May of Madison; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Skirvin on January 31, 1997; two sons: Jerry Skirvin and Donald Skirvin; two sisters: Anna Bell and Shirley Wallace; and three brothers: Eugene May, Clifford May, and Roy May.

Reverend Paul Ratterman will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison Hilltop, with interment to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Paynesville.

Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, October 16, and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Paynesville Christian Church. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
