Richard "Dick" Grant Sudlow, age 84, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Hanover Health and Rehab in Hanover. Born July 3, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Walter H. and Edna M. (Ball) Sudlow.
Mr. Sudlow served as a staff sargent in the United States Air Force from April 1, 1953 to March 21, 1957. On October 18, 1981, he was united in marriage to JoAnne D. Barnes in Madison, Indiana. He retired from Commonwealth Insurance as an insurance agent and from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Madison. He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing the steel guitar with Tommy Day and Doug Jones.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, JoAnne of Hanover; his daughter, Teressa Cummins and her husband, Greg, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; his son, William "Bill" Sudlow of Cutler, Indiana; his step-sons: Steve Vaughan and his wife, Nancy of Fishers, Indiana, and Mark Vaughan of Hanover; his step-daughters: Susan Sever of Madison, Diane Amos and her husband, Bob of Lexington, Indiana, Dawn Peak and her husband, Larry of Hanover, and Amy Vaughan and her fiancé, Danny Arbuckle of Madison; his sisters: Judy Bane and her husband, Kenny and Carol Stoeffler and her husband, Charles; his brothers: Ronnie Sudlow and his wife, Peggy, Robert Sudlow and his wife, Carol, and Edward Sudlow and his wife, Nancy; twenty-three grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Reverend J.D. Traylor will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison Hilltop, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2018, and from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Saturday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
