Life Story for Gene E. McAdams

Gene E. McAdams
Gene Eldin McAdams, 75, of Mount Vernon, Indiana, formerly of Hanover, Indiana and Milton, Kentucky, passed away on March 6, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus,Indiana.

Gene was born in Dewey, Oklahoma on October 21, 1942. He moved with his parents, Forrest and Teresa (Schmidt) McAdams, to Lawrenceburg, Indiana where he played baseball and graduated from Lawrenceburg High School. Shortly thereafter, he met and later married Reva Mae Mitchell in September 1963. Soon, they went to Dayton, Ohio and had three children, a daughter and two sons. Gene worked at Dayton Tire and Rubber where he won many awards and was recognized for his ingenious input for improving safety and quality measures. Later, Gene and Reva moved to Lawton, Michigan, where they continued raising their children. Gene enjoyed coaching baseball, doing home projects, watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies, and spending many hours on the lake fishing. When Gene and family moved to Milton, they received a blessing by adding one more child to the family, another daughter. He also liked to spend his time with his children and grandchildren by swinging on the porch swing or walking, talking, and sharing his love of nature; teaching them about birds, plants, and respecting wildlife. For many years Gene enjoyed shooting pool, riding his motorcycle and woodworking. He blessed family and friends with many pieces of furniture and wood crafted pieces. Gene recently enjoyed with his significant other of 20 years, Julia, trips to Las Vegas, pawn shop browsing, yard sales, dancing, and shooting pool at the American Legion.

Gene will be sadly missed by his significant other Julia Burke; his two daughters: Jeanette McAdams and Rachel McAdams; his two sons: Gene McAdams II and Wesley McAdams; his sister, Rose Frank; his brother, Jack McAdams; his grandchildren Timothy (Rebecca) Harper, Tyler (Victoria) Harper, John Logsdon, Gene Logsdon, Cullen Morey, Chloe Morey, Marissa McAdams, Emily McAdams, Anastasia McAdams, Noah McAdams, Danica McAdams, Riley Vaughn, and Jolee Shields; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Reve Mae Mitchell McAdams; his parents: Forrest Jack and Teresa (Schmidt) McAdams; and his brother, Kenneth McAdams.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison Hilltop.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus, Indiana for their support in his final days.
