Thomas Mason “Snooks” Stewart, age 74, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his residence in Milton, Kentucky. Born September 16, 1943 in Milton, he was the son of Thomas Clarence and Mary Loretta (Gordon) Stewart. He was a carpenter for many years and then went back to school and got licensed in heating and air conditioning. He worked in heating and air until his retirement. On February 12, 1965, he was united in marriage to Marianna Wright at the Milton Methodist Church in Milton.
Tom enlisted in the Army and was a proud member of the Second Squadron of the Second Armored Cavalry. He reveived several citations, including the Good Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal, and a special citation for being a member of the squadron that pulled border patrol along the border of the Free World in Germany. He rose to the rank of Specialist E-4 and was honorably discharged, after spending three years in Bamberg, Germany
He was a member of the Local 3210, Carpenters Union in Madison and the Madison American Legion. He loved playing his guitar and visited Charles Humphrey every morning to pick guitars. He enjoyed restoring old Ford cars and trucks and going to cruise ins with his grandsons..
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Marianna Stewart of Milton; his daughters: Lori Briner and her husband, Russell of Madison, IN and Sara Stewart of Milton; his sons: Jeffery Stewart of Milton and Gregory Stewart and his wife, Susan of Milton; his sisters: Pamela Stewart of Carrollton, KY, Mary Jane Center of Milton, Virginia Henry of Bedford, KY, Judy Cole of Madison, and Lillian Aldridge of Bedford; his brother, Mike Stewart of Milton; his grandchildren: Caleb Briner, Nathan Stewart, Abigail Stewart, Tina Briner, Andrea Briner, Ryan Cooper, Russell A. Briner, Amanda Briner, Nathan Gibson and Matthew Macon; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers: Paul, Tony and Rodney Stewart.
Graveside services will be private for the family with inurnment to follow in Indiana Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Wood Oakley Chapel from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, March 24, 2018.
