Grace Elizabeth Humes, age 74, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana. Born September 2, 1943 in Madison, she was the daughter of Horace W. and Ruth M. (Todd) Humes.
Grace worked for King's Daughters' Hospital for forty-one years as a dietary food service manager. She was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church, where she was faithfully involved with activities, and the Pilot Club of Madison, where she was currently president. Grace enjoyed Crossword puzzles, being with her nieces and nephews, and speaking on women's health. She was also an accomplished organist.
She will be sadly missed by her sisters: Nancy Lewis and her husband, Robert of Madison, Elaine Smith and her husband, Allen of Columbus, Julia Seniours of Columbus, Stephanie Gallahar of New Albany, Indiana and Laura Humes of Kent, Indiana; her brothers: Louis Humes and his wife, Pam of Melbourne, Florida and Raymond Humes of New Albany; and eighteen nieces and nephews: Hauris and Mark Lewis, Allen, III, Robert Shawn, and Mary Smith, Bianca Miller, Charles Seniours and Micheal Humes, Isaiah Humes and Marques Gallahar, Allisha Humes, Isaac and Michelle Humes, Leslie and Patrick Humes, Mary Faith Bible and Erin Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Connie Humes and Sandra Humes; her brothers: James Humes and John Humes; her brothers-in-law: Bertrand Seniours and Terry Anderson; and one nephew, Dustin Humes.
The Reverend Harvey Leggett, Jr. will conduct funeral services at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Broadway Baptist Church, 615 Broadway Street in downtown Madison, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017, and from 2:00 PM until time of service on Sunday.
The Pilot Club will conduct memorial services at 7:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus facility. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
